Jeff Petitt

Anna Maria Living

Born in Tampa Florida and raised in Northern Michigan, Jeff has spent most of his life in the pursuit of real estate and the building sciences. In the 80’s he held a securities license and represented REIT’s (real estate investment trusts) to his financial services clients.

Jeff’s real estate career really took off in 1998 when, out of frustration with a personal real estate purchase, he obtained his sales associates license in Michigan. In 1999, Jeff created a local cable television show called, “Up North Living” which highlighted lifestyle based real estate in Northern Michigan and Canada which catapulted his career in to high gear.

How I got here

Right after the real estate crash, Jeff relocated to Anna Maria Island Florida with his wife of 37 years and began work with a construction consulting and engineering firm analyzing large loss claims for the insurance industry. Many of his local real estate contacts would often have him walk through homes and give advice on what could and couldn’t be done with a home remodel or defects noted in the home. Frustrated with the buying and selling pitfalls, Jeff obtained his Florida real estate license in 2010 and has been helping buyers and sellers navigate the process ever since.

What I've learned

The single biggest lesson that I've learned over my 20 years in the real estate business is that, people are more interested in lifestyle over anything else when buying a home. The vast majority of my clients are second home and retiree buyers looking for very specific things in a home, most of which encompass there passions. Because Florida offers such a wide range of activities, most people make their buying decision based off of want more than needs, I know that is how I ended up in this area myself.

What clients can expect

Before my mother passed away at the age of 39, she instilled in me several attributes that I carry with me every day. It has become the foundation of how I do business.

  • Listen twice as much as you talk, that is why you were given two ears and one mouth.
  • Treat everyone equally, no matter if they are rich or poor. Everyone has a story and it is your job to fill there needs.
  • Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.
  • Manners matter. I still say sir and ma'am
  • Love what you do and you'll never have to worry about finding a job.

Lastly, she taught me that I can't be all things to all people so it's best too just be true to yourself.

What to do next

It is important that you trust your Realtor. The industry is continually going through changes and you will need to feel comfortable during the process. If you are thinking of buying or selling, call me and lets have a conversation. My promise is that I'll listen and give you a plan of action regardless of whether you use me for your transaction or not.
